»Feasibility Studies for Privately Financed businesses
ZRDC has conducted
various feasibility studies for several kinds of infrastructure
projects, planned for private sector financing and operations. It
has also helped small and medium entrepreneurs in business
assessment, feasibility study and Business plan development.
»Study on the Use of the Land in Northern Province
ZRDC expertise was also involved in the study on the use of land in
Northern Province.
The objective of the study was to propose alternative facilities to
be built and run by the private sector for an effective use of the
land owned by the Cooperative Society in Kasama, develop a business
plan, and conduct a feasibility study on the facility to be
selected. Public participation in project planning and
implementation were among the important elements of the project.
»Study of Financial Methods and Regulation Frameworks
ZRDC conducted a comprehensive national review of
financing methods including private provision of infrastructure services, through literature reviews and numerous field
surveys/site visits. Detailed case studies were also carried out
regarding financing schemes that could be successfully introduced to
the current system.
»Feasibility Study on Redevelopment of Central
Business District in Kapiri-Mposhi.
In addition to the advisory services ZRDC had provided for
planning an advanced Hospital to be built in a reclamation area near
the Great North Road junction in Kapairi-Mposhi, ZRDC also prepared a development
plan for a building complex to be developed in the area. This proposal was approved by the
Ministry of Local Government, and integrated into the local government's
development program.
»Study of Technical Assistance Requirements to Facilitate Private
Sector Participation
For the GRZ-financed projects in which private sector participation
in infrastructure development and operations were underway or
being considered, ZRDC assessed: (i) the processes for
implementation of private sector participation; (ii) the risks and
counter-measures; and (iii) the possibilities of technical
assistance in the stages of project formulation, implementation and
operation. |
